Color of abundance #2: Hairpins worn by geisha

HK$1,200

Sold Out

From the Edo period to the present day, geisha has been regarded as the symbol of Japanese culture. Ordinary people’s impression of geisha come down to either the thick layer of white makeup on their face, or the elaborate ornaments decorating their hair. This hairpin is a small accessory that was originally part of a full set of hair ornaments. A closer look reveals extremely tiny patterns, which, coupled with its lusterless outlook as a result of oxidation, exude an air of worldliness and maturity.
