Vol 06: Autumn 2011

HK$98

This issue approaches the opening of new fashion season by investigating the essence and definition of ‘fashion’. We often emphasize the three dimensional nature of fashion, as an expression of the current society and history, as well as being a statement of timelessness. We are honoured to feature Tom Ford on this issue’s cover. The conversation is in-depth yet down to earth, including his views and approach to fashion, as well as his ambition in film and also the experience of working on film debut A Single Man.Through a special feature on Tom Ford Autumn/ Winter 2011 collection, we analyse his unique vision of menswear.

The Hong Kong Sweets Guide from issue three caught much attention from our readers, this time we step into Tai Tung Bakery, with sixty-eight-year history. Its second generation owner Tse Ching Yuen shares his first-hand experience on the manufacturing process and evolution of traditional moon cake, as well as behind-the-scene stories unknown to most.

Also derived from the U.S., Thom Browne, alongside designer eyewear label Dita’s Jeff Solorio, share their latest collaboration project and passion on craftsmanship. We are also featuring two female personalities – “13 Dots” Theresa Lee from Hong Kong and Chen Man from Beijing. The former is known for comic 13 Dots from the ’60s, bringing fashion to the Hong Kong public. Through her experience we can take a glimpse on the history of local fashion. The latter is establishing herself as one of the representative of Chinese fashion photographers of our time. Shooting for Vision and Harper’s Bazaar China while she was still studying, Chen is building a unique visual language in line with the vision of contemporary China. Their views, from different perspective and categories, contribute to the collective notion of fashion.

Last but not least is illustrator Audrey Schilt, who worked for Ralph Lauren for twenty-two years. She shares her experience in the industry, as well as her illustration archive of over thirty years.
