Objects of Love Artwork #6: Doll by Furze Chan

HK$550

Sold Out

A keepsake is a kind of proof, and a promise between the giver and the receiver. Recently we have invited eight creative units to participate in making artworks for our feature story, More Than A Pledge, in our 2015 Autumn/Winter edition. These artists defined, in their own unique way, what their imagined keepsakes would be like, thus becoming this series – Objects of Love – which is now sold exclusively here on Obscura online store.

This doll is a one-off limited item, made by Furze Chan. She specialises in collecting antiques, creating paper goods design and craftwork. She’s also the column writer of Object Lesson. Here is what she said about this piece:

“When I was little, my older brother and I would play with dolls together. As a habit, I would come up with conversations, a voice and a personality for each doll. I made this doll using a family-style sewing machine and it not only serves as an extension of my childhood interest, but also the sewing techniques my mum taught me when I was little. It is a proof of my childhood days.”

Note: This doll is an artwork and for decorative purpose only.
