I found this flat spoon at a miscellaneous store in Okayama prefecture in Japan. Being small and exquisite, the spoon is best suited for dessert. Japanese artisans are always known for their fine and delicate craftsmanship. Nevertheless, the artisans who crafted this spoon deliberately left behind traces of their work including holes and scratches on its surface, which radiate a kind of “usage beauty” attuned to daily life.

在日本岡山縣的雜貨店找到這隻扁匙，小巧玲瓏的體積，正好用作吃甜點的扁匙。日本工匠向來以手工精細聞名，可工匠在打造這隻扁匙的時候，卻刻意留下手工痕跡，上頭的凹洞和花痕，煥發著一種與生活同調的「使用之美」。
